Shania Twain
 |
| Born Eilleen Regina Edwards in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, country
singer Shania Twain was raised in the mining community of Timmins, Ontario by
her mother and stepfather, who were later killed in an automobile accident.
Left to raise her younger siblings alone, Shania earned money for the family
by performing at a local resort. She changed her name to Shania, an Ojibwa
Indian word that means "I’m on my way." In 1993, Shania burst onto the music
scene in 1993 with her self-titled debut album and continues to earn accolades
and awards for her music. She is married to Robert "Mutt" Lange, a record producer,
and they have one son. |
